I am very teary tonight because in just 1 hour and 8 minutes…Ky is going to be seven years old. Seven years. Where has it gone? It seems like just yesterday Court and I were weighing the pros and cons of having another child. Hannah was four and things were easy. To think that there was a minute..even a second where we almost made the decision not to try for another child….it is unthinkable to me now. My life would not be the same without my little guy. I was just thinking back tonight, (Ky makes me sit in the bathroom while he showers…some bad parenting on my part allowed him to accidentally see part of Psycho…and I am now paying for it), when I found out I was pregnant with Ky I was so excited I took three pregnancy tests. I then took those three positive tests across the street to my neighbor’s and made her tell me what they said. Yes, I am a weirdo. My entire pregnancy was difficult, from the name choice to everything physical but I got to the end and I remember the night before my c-section. My dad, stepmom and my sister, Stacy, came up and they took the three of us to El Charritos for dinner. I remember just sitting there and thinking “The next time I go to dinner, I will have two kids. TWO. I cannot believe he will be here soon.” Hannah went to the hotel with my family afterward. That morning Court and I went to HMC at 5am. I was wearing a red turtleneck sweater and jeans. I caught sight of myself and I looked like I had a basketball under my sweater. I remember smiling about that. There were some complications during my c-section but everything turned out okay. My son was born just before 9 am on February 8, 2003. He weighed 7lbs 9 ounces and he had orange (literally orange) hair. I knew I loved him and I knew he was special but I never realized how much he would change my life. I know everyone thinks there children are special and wonderful but I dare you to find a kid as funny, brave, loving and fearless as my Ky. I mean, my boy;
1. Questions whether or not the volunteer we had over is a secret assassin AND offers to sweep for bombs just in case.
2. Uses the word obliterate three times in the same sentence.
3. Hides a Megan Fox picture under his bed.
4. Always offers me his last chicken nugget.
5. Feels my forehead for a fever if I am sniffley.
6. Threatens to beat up an 18 year old who sent me a mean message.
7. Says he can’t wait to marry a goth girl and have two babies….Spike and Bahookie.
8. Gives random kisses, hugs and I Love Yous…even though he is a MAN.
9. Wakes me up with a “Wazz up? Wazz up? Wazz up?”
10. Says he may move out someday but it will be right next door because he would miss me too much.
11.Rocks the air guitar like NONE other.
I could write about Ky for days, his smile, his blue eyes, his good heart. I just know that he is the most amazing and awesome little boy on the planet. No talk back.
Happy Birthday Spike, Master of Destruction. <3
